Wednesday, October 12th, 2011

• We welcome Elaine Duncan of the Scottish Bible Society who will lead our worship today.
We also welcome Donald McIntosh who is playing the organ today when John Balding is away.
Our minister, Lesley Moseley, will be on holiday till Thursday 20th October.
During that time, if there are any pastoral problems, please get in touch with your deacon.

• Every Wednesday we have our weekly lunchtime service at 11.30am,
Lunchbite is at 12.15pm, and Leisure and Learning is at 2pm.

• The Bible Study Group meet on Wednesday 19th October at 7.30pm.

• Tea and a chat. There will be an informal ‘Get Together’ of former Guild members and friends in the lounge on Thursday 20th October at 2pm.

• The Saturday Sales have now reopened from 10am till noon. Please come and enjoy tea/coffee/biscuits and a chat as you browse the stalls.

• It would be helpful to look at the articles on the notice board opposite the vestry about Civil Partnerships and also about Finance and Synod Funding before the next church meeting, which be on Sunday 23rd October from 12.15 till 1.30 (max!)

• You are invited to join with the congregation of Giffnock South church to swell the numbers for the singing as a Remembrance Day service is recorded for radio in their church on Sunday 30th October at 2.30pm.

• There is an exhibition in the Mitchell Library entitled “Divine Write- King James in Scotland” to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the King James Bible in Scotland. Why not go along and see the exhibits and listen to the talks?

• Our church officer will be on holiday for a week from 22nd October. Please note that the building will only be open when there are groups using the premises.
We would like volunteers to help the cleaning team on Friday 28th October at 10am. Please see Chris McEwan for more details.

• Dates for your diary
Our shoebox packing will take place on Saturday 22nd October at 4pm and will be followed by a fish and chip tea.
Leaflets are available telling what is required for the shoeboxes. Why not gather items over the next few weeks? Why not knit some items for the boxes?
Plan to be there to help pack if you can. It is good fun!

Priesthill United Reformed Church has moved to the former St Robert’s Hall, 160 Peat Road.
You are invited to attend the special service on Monday 24th October at 7.30pm to mark the move, giving thanks for the past, and looking forward to the future.
Please give Alison your name if you wish to attend.

Craft Fair
Our annual Craft Fair takes place on Saturday 29th October at 2pm. Items for the church stall and for the lucky dip (to the value of £!) will be gratefully received by Liz Russell our organizer.

Members of all four Giffnock churches have been invited to a lunch in Giffnock South Church on Sunday 6th November at 12.45pm (cost £5) as part of our continuing ecumenical cooperation and friendship.
Places are limited, so put your name on the list outside the vestry and the 25 places will be allocated on a first come, first served, basis.

Christian Aid Prayer for the week
Today is World Food Day. During the week please pray for communities living in extreme poverty as a result of the rise in global food prices.

Harvest. Thanks to all who donated items for the charity “Loaves and Fishes.” Food and clothes were delivered last Sunday afternoon.
Thanks to Margaret Campbell for the beautiful Harvest loaf.

Ministry and Mission letters
Members are requested to pick up these letters from the front door of the church or from the small hall at coffee time. If you could help deliver to friends or neighbours, we would be very grateful for the help.

Last week’s Evensong had to be rescheduled so you are invited to “Evensong” the informal service with lots of singing at Park Church at 6.30pm tonight instead.

Why not take your Order of Service home with you? It will remind you of the service and the intimations, or you could pass it on to a member of friend who was unable to be at church.
