• The funeral of Catherine Picken will be held on Tuesday 28th September at 1.30pm in the Linn Crematorium.

• Next Sunday, 3rd October, is our Harvest Service.
People are invited to bring dry goods or tinned goods which will be donated to the charity “Loaves and Fishes”.

• Chancel. Deliverers are reminded that the Chancel will be available on Sunday 3rd October.

• You are invited to join us for the Wednesday lunchtime service at 11.30am.
Bring your own piece (tea and coffee provided) and enjoy company and a chat after the service.

• Deacons are reminded of their meeting on Wednesday 29th September at 7pm for prayer and 7.30pm for the meeting.

• Saturday Sales and Coffee Morning
This Saturday morning activity (October to March) begins again on Saturday 2nd October from 10am till noon. You are welcome to enjoy a tea/coffee and a chat.
There will be different stalls with books, toys, clothes, bric a brac etc.
If you have any items to donate to the stalls, please see Isobel Menzies.

• Lunchbite starts again on Wednesday 6th October at 12.15pm.
• Leisure and Learning starts up again on Wednesday 6th October at 2pm.
• Guild starts up again on Thursday 7th October at 2pm

• You are invited to a Poetry Day organised by the Scottish College where you will be listening to and talking about the Poetry of Home with John Arthur.
This will take place in our church on Thursday 7th October from 10.30am till 3pm. Please let Alison know if you wish to register for this day by Sunday 3rd October.

• Come & Sing Day at St Margaret’s Scottish Episcopal Church, 353/355 Kilmarnock Road, on Saturday 9th October.
Rehearsal 3.30pm till 5.30pm. Performance 7pm
Entrance to performance is £5. All proceeds to Mary’s Meals

• Due to lack of numbers, the concert by the Caledonian Fiddle Orchestra organised by Loaves and Fishes on Friday 8th October has been cancelled.

• Remember the Shoebox Packing (followed by our fish and chip supper) on Saturday 23rd October.
Please start collecting empty shoeboxes now and start collecting items to put in them!

Christian Aid Prayer for the Week
During the week, please pray for the Dalit people of India, especially women, who suffer massive caste discrimination.

Explorer Scouts
The Explorer Scouts will be giving a presentation on their Explorer Belt trip to Canada today in the Small Hall from 3.00 pm. (this is a key part of the award and will determine whether the Explorer Belt is awarded or not). The Explorer Scouts would like to extend an invitation to any member of the congregation who wishes to attend. They would be very welcome.

The Bible Study Group meet on Wednesday 22nd September at 7.30pm.
We will start exploring Matthew’s gospel.

Dates for your diary
Shawlands URC are hosting a Community Forum on 20th September at 7.30pm with the subject being “Is a review of capital punishment needed in the UK?”

Loaves and Fishes are having a fundraising event on Friday 8th October at 7pm in Renfield St Stephen’s Church.
The Caledonian Fiddle Orchestra will provide the entertainment.

Christian Aid Prayer for the Week
Tuesday is the International Day for Peace. Please pray for Christian Aid partners providing emergency assistance to those living under the shadow of conflict.
