ACTS of Eastwood Lent Study Group 2010 “People on the Edge of His Pain.”
Sunday evening Coffee & tea at 7.30pm. Study starts 8.00pm
28th March Orchardhill Parish Church.

Please support our Open Doors days on Monday 29th, Tuesday 30th and Wednesday 31st March from 10am till noon. Bring along a friend or neighbour and show them your church.
Enjoy the stillness and feel God’s presence.

The lunchtime service will begin at 12 o’clock on Wednesday 31st March to fit in with the time of Open Doors. As there is no Lunchbite, bring your own piece!!

The Bible Study Group meet on Wednesday 31st March at 7.30pm

Count Your Blessings leaflet for Lent. Please make cheques payable to Giffnock URC.

The Maundy Thursday and Good Friday joint services with other Giffnock churches will take place on Thursday 1st April and Friday 2nd April at 7.30pm. (Venues to be confirmed)

Our early Easter Day service takes place at 8am and will include communion.
Our 11am Easter Day service will also include communion.

The Church Flower Group are looking for someone to join the team. Please `phone Nan Steele on 639-7222 if you think you can help, or speak to the minister or any of the other group members for further details.

In the Soup at Giffnock
As part of our support for Christian Aid, we have now produced a “Souper Soup Recipe Book”. It will retail at £3.50. Orders for recipe books – list on noticeboard.
Thank you for all the recipes you have sent in. Your efforts are much appreciated and the money will go to Christian Aid through Commitment for Life.

Training for Learning and Serving (known as TLS)
Information leaflets with details of courses are on the table outside the vestry.
Information is also available on the URC web site www.urc.org.uk

The Spring Craft Fair will take place on Saturday 17th April from 2pm till 5pm.
Entry costs £1 (50p concession)
There will be a tearoom (pay separately)
Donations are requested for the church table and for the lucky dip. See Liz Russell for more details.

The Scouts will be holding ‘Another Night at the Musicals’ on Saturday 24th April at 7.30pm. Moira Harris will have tickets price £5 on today.

We are delighted that two of our deacons will lead our worship today. The service will be followed by tea/coffee in the hall. The AGM will then be held in the church at 12.30pm.

21st March Busby Parish Church

The Deacons’ Meeting takes place on Wednesday 24th March at 7.30pm, preceded by prayer at 7pm.

The Guild will have their AGM on Thursday 25th March at 2pm. The guest speaker will be our own minister.

The lunchtime service will be on Wednesdays at 11.30am followed by the Lunchbite at 12.15pm. This week the proceeds from the Lunchbite will go to Christian Aid as part of their Super Soup day appeal.

‘In the Soup at Giffnock’
As part of our support for the Christian Aid Super Soup Lunch on Wednesday 24th March (plan to come to Lunchbite that day!) we are planning to produce a ‘Souper Soup’ cookbook containing favourite soup recipes. Please give Lesley or Alison your own soup recipe.

The Saturday Sales end for this season on Saturday 27th March. This is your last chance to donate unwanted gifts and good quality clothing to Isobel and the team.
Try hard to have one big final push to raise funds for the church!
On Saturday 27th March there will also be a stall selling goods on behalf of the Lifeboats appeal.

Shawlands URC Fellowship Guest evening will be on Monday 22nd March at 7.30pm, entertainment by the Cambus Singers. A warm invitation is extended to all.

Open Doors
The church will be open on Monday 29th, Tuesday 30th, Wednesday 31st March from 10am till noon.
Our organist will be playing, and people have been invited to come and look round the church, admire the banners, or sit quietly in the sanctuary. Tea and coffee will be available.
Why not take this opportunity to bring a friend or neighbour to see your church?

    Why not visit Sainsbury’s at Muirend on Friday and Saturday 5th/6th March from 12-2 and 2-4pm. The store are very enthusiastic to enlist our help. If you wish to become involved speak to David Christie.

    Why not take up the challenges for the period of Lent and help those living in poverty across the world?
