Next Sunday the 8th November is Remembrance Sunday. Our service will begin at 10.50am.

Would the cleaning team please meet on Friday 6th November at 10am and every Friday until further notice?

Sheila Graham lost a small blue photo album on Sunday 3rd October when the Genesis members were taking part in the service. Can anyone help?

Jean Smith has provided a synopsis of the College Courses – Growing Together 2009-2010. Copies are available on the table outside the vestry.

Eastwood Choral will present songs from Britain and America on Saturday 7th November at 7.30pm in St. Margaret’s, Newlands. Tickets £8 (concession £6)

Lunchbite has now resumed on Wednesdays from 12.15 till 1.30pm. The midweek service will be at 11.30am.

The Saturday Sales & Tea/Coffee mornings are now open each Saturday at 10am.

Glasgow South Churches
The next team ministry consultation and exploration day will take place here on Saturday 7th November at 10am for 10.30am and will last until 3pm. Tea and coffee will be provided, but those who attend should bring their own packed lunch (piece!!).

Pollokshields URC will be holding a special Service at 7pm on Friday 20th November. This will be a time of worship to give thanksgiving for the past and a to mark the closure of PURC in its current form. On this sad occasion we will very much appreciate the company of all our friends in the Synod.

Pollokshields URC are hosting a concert by the Fotheringay Players on behalf of Christian Aid at the Fotheringay Centre at 6pm Sunday 22nd November. Neil Black, an Oboe soloist of world renown will play the Richard Strauss Oboe Concerto in what promises to be a memorable short programme of music in this lovely venue.

Deacons are reminded of their meeting on Wednesday 28th October at 7pm for prayer and 7.30pm for the meeting.

The Women’s Guild will meet on Thursday 29th October at 2pm. Helen Dunbar will speak on ‘Mercy Ships’.

Age Concern Eastwood.
Giffnock URC run the Baking Stall at their Autumn Fair. Donations of suitable goods would be gratefully received. These can be delivered to our Church Hall between 6pm & 7pm on Friday 30th October or given in at Clarkston Halls on Saturday morning 31st October.

Rev Jim Graham will be leading worship at Pollokshields URC at 10.30 am on Sunday 1st November. This will be a Communion Service and a celebration of the 60th anniversary of Jim’s ordination (delayed from earlier in the year). All friends of Jim and Jean will be most welcome.

Reform Subscribers
Would all Reform subscribers please note that for next year’s subscription, ‘Reform’ would like to send the magazine to each individual, and to this end could you please pick up a renewal form and send it off? Please note the new subscription is £19.80 and not as noted in the magazine. Deadline for receiving forms is Friday 27th November. See Danny if you have any questions.

Christian Aid Prayer for the week.
During the week please pray for the Burmese refugee camps along the Thai-Burma border and the Thai villages which have shown incredible acts of generosity and sanctuary to Burmese refugees.

Leisure and Learning
Mary Buchanan will be coming to the Leisure & Learning group to speak about “Ways to Prayer”. This will be an open meeting … everyone will be welcome, especially some men! Wednesday 21st October at 2pm in the lounge.

The Bible Study group meet on Wednesday 21st October at 7.30pm.

Convenor deacons are reminded of their meeting on Friday 23rd October at 2.30pm.

Shoebox packing (followed by a fish and chip supper) will take place on Saturday 24th October from 4.45pm. Come and have fun as we prepare the shoeboxes for delivery to Europe.

Members are reminded of the church meeting to be held after the service TODAY.

Thanks to all who donated goods for our Harvest appeal. They were delivered to Loaves and Fishes last Sunday afternoon. A big thank you to Margaret Campbell for making the Harvest Loaf. Margaret has made this loaf for Harvest since 1976! What commitment!

The Women’s Guild will meet on Thursday 15th October at 2pm. Pat Connell will speak on her Indian Ocean Cruise. A warm welcome is extended to all.

Calling recyclers. Take part in local magic by turning plastic milk and fruit juice tops into a wheelchair! Orchardhill Parish are making the collection to help raise funds to purchase one. Bring your plastic tops to us. The collection point will be outside the vestry.

Since Alan’s death in June, his wife and two daughters have been struggling with the decision of whether or not to keep on the business.
They give thanks for the love and support shown by their staff but need our prayers that the customer base will remain loyal and that the three of them will learn quickly the skills to manage the business successfully and for it to continue to be financially viable.
