Welcome to ”Back to Church” Sunday. Members of our congregation will lead our service today while the minister is on holiday.

Deacons are reminded of their meeting on Wednesday 30th September at 7pm for prayer and 7.30pm for the meeting.

The Women’s Guild will resume on Thursday afternoon 1st October at 2pm. A warm welcome is extended to everyone.

The Saturday Sales & Tea/Coffee mornings reopen on Saturday 3rd October at 10am. We have completely new stock for sale and everybody is very welcome to come along and enjoy the chat over coffee and browse over the sale tables.

Harvest will be celebrated on Sunday 4th October. Donations of dry goods are requested on that day.

We trust that the members of Giffnock Congregational Church YF/Genesis Group between 1975 and 1986 have a happy and successful Homecoming 2009 reunion on Saturday 3rd October and look forward to welcoming them as they take part and share in our worship on Sunday 4th October.

Lunchbite will resume on Wednesday 7th October from 12.15 till 1.30pm. The midweek service will be at 11.30am.

Bible Study Group. The group will resume on Wednesday 7th October at 7.30 p.m.
The study will be of the book of James. You are warmly invited to come along to this informal study group.

Reminder. Members are reminded of the next church meeting to be held after the service on Sunday 11th October.

To celebrate their 125 years, Greenbank Parish Church will be holding a Festival of Flowers on Friday 2nd October from 10am-1pm,and 3pm-8pm, and also on Saturday 3rd October from 10am-4pm.

Calling recyclers. Take part in local magic by turning plastic milk and fruit juice tops into a wheelchair! Orchardhill Parish are making the collection to help raise funds to purchase one. Bring your plastic tops to us. The collection point will be outside the vestry.

Christian Aid Prayer for the week: During the week please pray for the people of Sri Lanka as they struggle to rebuild their lives after the violence earlier this year.

Victoria Infirmary Service. Anyone who is able to help by attending the Victoria Infirmary Service led by the local URC churches is invited to do so this afternoon at 2 pm at the Chaplaincy Centre.

As part of their celebrations to mark 100 years of worship in their present building, Shawlands URC will be holding a Flower Festival today from 2pm-4pm. A warm welcome is extended to everyone.

Back to church Sunday 27th September. All members are encouraged to bring someone along to join us for the morning service.

Were you a member of Giffnock Congregational Church YF/Genesis Group between 1975 and 1986? If so, we are holding a Homecoming 2009 reunion for Genesis members at Clydesdale Hockey Club on Saturday 3rd October. You and your partners are most welcome. Bible challenge - For those of you trying to read the Bible in 91 days (or so!) we will put a box in the vestibule for you to put any questions you might have as a result of your reading. The questions can be done anonymously if you wish!

During the summer months people are encouraged to come to the midweek service on Wednesdays at 11.30am. After the service, tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided. Bring your own piece if you like! Enjoy the fellowship when so many other activities are finished for the summer.

We welcome Steve Alexander, who is an elder at Helensburgh United Reformed Church, to lead our service this morning.

There will be a short Church Meeting after the morning service today.

The next meeting of the URC churches in the south side of Glasgow to discuss the future–including Team Ministries will take place in Shawlands URC tomorrow Monday 14th September at 7.30pm.  Members are urged to attend if at all possible because of the importance of the agenda and the consequences for the future.
