Thursday, August 27th, 2009There will be a United Service in Pollokshields URC on Sunday 6th September at 6pm. All welcome.
There will be a short Church Meeting after the morning service on Sunday 13th September.
Bible challenge - to end the URC Vision4Life year why not read the Bible in 91 days? Can you rise to the challenge? Other churches in the West Link are being challenged too. A suggested programme can be obtained from Lesley, Alison or your deacon. When you have completed your reading let us know and we’ll see if more of us have risen to the challenge than our friends in other churches!
Thanks to all who made the Coffee Morning on 22nd August such a success. Everyone enjoyed getting together on a Saturday again, and in addition, over £170 was raised and will be shared between the Scottish Bible Society and Church funds.
If any other group would like to host a Saturday Coffee Morning between now and the end of September, please see Alison as soon as possible.
During the summer months people are encouraged to come to the midweek service on Wednesdays at 11.30am. After the service, tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided. Bring your own piece if you like! Enjoy the fellowship when so many other activities are finished for the summer.
The Christian Aid book sale will be held outside Morrison’s in Fenwick Road on Saturday 5th September 2009 from 10am-1pm. Donations of books welcome. Please see Sheila Graham or Gerry Brown if you have books to be uplifted.
The Women’s Union rally will take place on Thursday 10th September at 1.30pm in Martyrs Church, St Andrews. The speaker will be Rev Lindsey Sanderson.
Calling recyclers. Take part in local magic by turning plastic milk and fruit juice tops into a wheelchair! Orchardhill Parish are making the collection to help raise funds to purchase one. Bring your plastic tops to us. The collection point will be outside the vestry.
Christian Aid Prayer for the week: During the week please pray for the people of the Philippines whose land and homes are flooded as a result of clearing trees for mining activity.
